How Naturopathy Works
What is Naturopathy?
Naturopathy is the science of creating health, by treating the whole person, not just the symptoms that have been used to medicate a diagnosis. We often find that one condition can have many causes and that the cause can also be associated with many conditions.
When we treat symptoms without addressing the contributing factors, we will never truly resolve the imbalance within the body. That's why we have developed a process that follows a full assessment of your health before we begin a treatment program.
Step 1: Your initial consultation is designed to ensure we understand your complete health history, family history and current health issues. This process allows us to establish a timeline of your condition as well as what triggers and mediators have contributed to your current health concerns.
Step 2: Next phase of your assessment includes a series of physical evaluations. This may include; body assessment height, weight, waist/hip ratio, body fat and ATM as well as an Iridology assessment and an examination of skin, nails, and mouth. These examinations provide an insight into organ system function as well as the body’s nutritional status. During this assessment we will also review your general pathology results and additional functional testing may be recommended. At the end of your appointment, symptomatic treatment may be recommended as well as dietary and lifestyle changes.
Step 3: Once your results have been assessed we are then ready to initiate a tailored wellness plan that will be agreed to by you and your practitioner. During this process, your practitioner will track your progress and modify your treatment as necessary over a series of scheduled appointments.
Step 4: Once we have your system back in balance and a resolution of your symptoms it’s time to re-evaluate your initial health document and address any unresolved issues that may have been flagged during your assessment. These may include; past infections, trauma, toxins, allergies, or other issue that have not be resolved during your program.
Throughout each of the steps, we recommend that food and lifestyle modifications be used as your primary source of medicine. Therapeutic nutritional supplements and herbal medicines are used to support deficiencies where indicated and to help modulate and restore function in organ systems.
